Monte-Carlo Polo Cup 2014 – Program
The second annual polo tournament in Monaco will take place at the Monte-Carlo Polo Club one month earlier than in 2013. From July 3th to 6th 2014 Francesco Mitrano, President of the Monte-Carlo Polo Club, will host teams from the United States, Russia, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland and Ireland. For more than 100 horses the new Polo Club, which is already a full member of the Federation of International Polo (FIP), will provide hospitality. On the final Sunday there will also be a ladies’ hat competition. The event takes place under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert.
Program
The second edition of the Cup Monte Carlo Polo was chosen as the fourth MEETING of the world tour of “Centennial Maserati Polo Tour” organized by Maserati, in collaboration with La Martina, as official supplier in the celebrations birthday centenary of the founders of the famous car manufacturer from Modena committed for the full year 2014 on the most famous polo fields of the United States to Asia via Europe and the Middle East.
Four teams of three players each will compete for this Cartier Trophy.
The teams from Monaco and Ireland, who took part in the tournament last year, will return to the polo ground at the Devens stadium in Beausoleil. Switzerland and the United States will be taking part for the first time.
Programme of events open to the public:
Friday 4 July
12 p.m.: Parade of Horses in the Place du Casino, by the participating teams;
5.30 p.m.: Beausoleil – opening ceremony of the tournament on the polo ground at the Devens stadium with the inauguration of the VIP area;
6 p.m.: Start of the polo tournament.
Saturday 5 July
5.30 p.m. – 7 p.m.: Polo tournament
Sunday 6 July
5.30 p.m.: Hat competition on the theme of “Summer Flowers.”
Special Pegasus exhibition by the sculptor Mateo Mornar.
Exhibition of sculptures by the Brazilian artist Marcos Marin.
6 p.m. – 7 p.m. : Beausoleil – Polo tournament semi-final
7 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Final of the Monte-Carlo Polo Cup.
8 p.m.: Prize-giving ceremony and cocktail party to close the event; hat competition on the theme of “summer flowers,” prize-giving.
9.30 p.m.: Gala Dinner (booking essential) organised by the Monte-Carlo Polo Cup at the Monte-Carlo beach featuring soprano Délia Noble, followed by a show by Federico Soldati (young Italian artist and mentalist).
Teams
Already six international teams have approved their attendance at the Monte-Carlo Polo Cup 2014. Host Francesco Mitrano is glad to welcome teams from the United States, Russia, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland and Ireland. The final line-up with all players and team handicaps will be approved soon.
